Not cold but definitely wet and damp at Holmebrook Valley Country Park for the May edition of the 5k & 1500m series.
Our race winner was Holmebrook debutant Sam Gagan of Kimberworth Striders in 18:22. Sam finished over a minute clear of another debutant, second man Jamie Cawthorne of NDRC 19:29 and first lady Hannah Walker 19:31 who finished third overall. Regular Gavin Newhouse was third man 20:01 followed by Katrina Prior of Cannon Events RC 22:10, also second lady.
Trophy winners for improved times were few this month with only one female Claire Barley (NDRC) taking home a trophy for a 22 second improvement and two men Mark Murphy (CERC) and Karl Wilde (NDRC) both improving by 19 seconds. Claire collected a trophy for the second month running.
We only had two in the 1500m this month with Jacob Hargreaves first in 6:19 and Sophie Rhodes second 8:29. An improvement of 12 seconds for Sophie meant she collected a most improved trophy. Jacob will be eligible from next month.
A reminder that you become eligible for a most improved trophy on your third race.
The usual thank you to all the marshals and helpers and we hope all runners enjoyed our local event and hope to see some of you again in future months. Next event it is on Sunday 23 June.
